Hygge is one of those Danish words that are difficult to translate into another language.
To simplify – you could refer to it as the art of creating a welcoming and warm ambience around you and your home, making a friendly space for us and our loved ones. In the opinion of experts, surprisingly, little is required for the interior to assume such an intimate character.
If you crave for your home to have a hygge character choose subdued, muted colours and earth tones. Such interiors are dominated by beige, gray and brown shades. We should definitely avoid gaudy and sharp contrasting colours that could interfere with the harmonious space. Additionally, furniture from raw wood and accessories from natural materials blend perfectly well. Now, you only need candles, frames with pictures of loved ones or sentimental family mementoes and the hygge climate is accomplished!
